The Farm Bill – the discussion is heating up. Add your voice

Help to shape Salt Lake’s Farm Bill Principles.  Cities around the country are creating their own FB principles to take to our congressional leaders in order to shape the next farm bill.  Comment on the 1st draft of these principles NOW.  With the budget-deficit debate taking place in the next couple of months, we need to gather community input now so this information will reach the country’s decision-makers in a timely manner.  Click here to see the 1st draft and to add your voice.

On Monday October 24th, the SL Mayor’s Food Policy Task force facilitated a Farm Bill Forum with experts from various fields talking about their issue and how it relates to the Farm Bill. In conjunction with National “Food Day,” this panel held at the SL Main Library included Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker, Utahns Against Hunger Director Gina Cornia, Utah Department of Health Nutritionist Patrice Isabella, City Councilman JT Martin, and Utah State University professor Dr. Douglas Jackson-Smith.
